Our History
1977
Mechanical Breakdown & General (MB&G) Insurance Services Ltd was founded in North Shields, Tyne and Wear, with a focus on Dealer Guarantees.
1996
We began operating nationwide and expanded into offering leisure warranties as well as insurance products.
2005
We introduced our custom-built warranty registration
system, set up manufacturer programs, and entered new
sectors of the market
including household furniture.
2016
We acquired MyCoverPlan which, at the time, specialised in home electronic goods warranties. We also opened a facilitated sales office in Barnsley.
2018
We introduced a new claims management system for
improved efficiency and
processing capability.
2019
We diversified into the
furniture sector by taking on
the claims and complaints processing for Oak
Furnitureland.
2020
We adapted to the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic by focusing on meeting the needs of our customers, underwriters, and regulators.
2021
We had a facelift in the form of a rebranding to modernise ourselves and align our identity with our evolving goals and values.
2022
MyCoverPlan secured a place on major price comparison sites such as GoCompare and Insurance Cloud.
2023
We partnered with Lloyd Motor Group to deliver white-labelled extended warranty offerings and a GAP Insurance product.
2024
We collaborated with Bailey Caravans to launch a comprehensive range of white-labelled warranty products for new and used caravans, motorhomes, and campervans.
2025
We transitioned our product range to be underwritten by Fortegra Insurance UK Limited, an A-rated insurer that provides high-quality, compliant coverage.

In 2019, MB&G partnered with Oak Furnitureland to provide end-to-end Claims Administration.
